Our passion is to serve our clients, our profession, and our community with the highest level of competence and uncompromising integrity. Our deep conviction is that the practice of law is a profession first and a business only secondarily. Competence We bring the highest level of legal skill, knowledge, energy, and experience to the resolution of our clients’ problems. When we have any doubt of our ability to do so in a particular case, we tell our client so and work with the client to secure the required expertise or capacity, whether by association with another firm or outright referral. Integrity A reputation of integrity is built slowly, every day, over a career. Our reputation for integrity is our most prized asset. We are obligated to elevate our clients’ interests above our own commercial self-interest. We give our clients our best, candid advice, even when it’s not what they want to hear.

The Anglo-American legal system is an adversary system. Contrary to the perception of many, this does not mean that good lawyers lie, cheat, or steal. In fact, the legal system depends to an extraordinary degree on lawyers’ honesty to the courts and each other, and we are extremely proud to uphold the highest standards of that long, honorable tradition. Our clients benefit because judges know we never misrepresent the facts or the law, and our adversaries know they can trust us to do what we’ve said we’ll do and not to do what we’ve said we won’t.
Service
Our clients do business around the world around the clock, and their problems do not always arise during our normal business hours. We respond to our clients 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and we are prepared to work with the speed and resources dictated by the client’s problem.
We work with professional organizations to elevate lawyers’ competency and integrity, and we devote a very substantial portion of our time to providing free legal services to clients who need good representation but can’t afford to pay. In our pro bono cases we have helped clients facing problems of lawyer misconduct, child custody, paternity, tenant rights and liabilities, and employment rights and obligations.
