Our People

Terence K. McGee graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and served on active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1969 to 1972.  He sailed as deck watch officer, navigator, and operations officer of USCGC BITTERSWEET, homeported in Ketchikan, Alaska.  Terry was Editor-in-Chief of the Pacific Law Journal while attending the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he took his law degree in 1975.

 

Terry extended his education through a very pleasant and instructive year as law clerk to Judge Herbert A. Swanson of the Washington State Court of Appeals, then entered private practice in Seattle in 1976.  He became a Proctor Member of the U.S. Maritime Law Association in 1981 and has written and lectured on maritime law issues at the Pacific Northwest Admiralty Law Institute and the University of Washington.


Terry has extensive trial experience in federal and state courts.  He is admitted to practice before all state courts in Washington, Alaska, and Oregon, the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington, the United States District Court for the District of Alaska, the United States Tax Court, the United States Court of International Trade, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.


Steven A. Murphy remained at the University of Washington after receiving his B.A. there in 1998, graduating from the University of Washington School of Law in 2001.  Before he came to the law, Steve had careers in sales (medical diagnostic instruments, natural foods, and nearly everything in between), acting (stage, film, and video), and as a radio producer and program host.

Karin Allison Scott has over 30 years of paralegal experience assisting lawyers in preparing and trying cases in both federal and state courts. She has designed and implemented information management systems and databases for the efficient control, reporting, and retrieval of millions of pieces of documentary and testimonial evidence, working with clients, experts, and counsel located throughout the United States.
 

Karin co-founded and managed a nonprofit corporation to market specialty panels of qualified counsel to businesses and government.  She has been a frequent speaker, instructor, and advisor at training seminars and legal technical schools and has written associated seminar manuals and materials on discovery and trial procedures.  She has been a United Way Project Lead and has 20 years experience as a Better Business Bureau arbitrator.
