Our Practice We have the capacity and experience to handle virtually all commercial cases, from simple disputes through complex, document-intensive litigation.  We utilize cutting-edge technology to leverage our time and resources, and our alliances with other law firms and consultants allow us to tailor our capacity and overhead to fit the case load at hand.   In our maritime practice, we have represented a broad spectrum of interests, including owners and operators, ports, builders, repairers, suppliers, product manufacturers, and lenders.  We also regularly represent insurers, brokers, and insureds with respect to liability exposures, subrogated interests after losses, and the specialized issues of coverage presented by marine insurance. A substantial portion of our practice is devoted to providing corporate and commercial counsel to Northwest companies in the marine, fisheries, construction, and forest products industries.  Helping our clients succeed in the daily conduct of their businesses requires the highest degree of legal expertise, complemented by knowledge of the clients’ industries and a thorough understanding of the clients’ business objectives.  Our litigation experience has proved of particular benefit in our counseling practice.  We can anticipate and defuse problems in the context of negotiating and drafting agreements rather than in later, expensive litigation, and we can give our clients realistic appraisals of the risks and benefits of litigation and other forms of dispute resolution, including difficult-to-quantify costs of distraction and disruption to management.   Finally, we have been pleased to assist our colleagues and their clients in achieving resolution of their disputes by acting as mediator when asked to do so in appropriate cases.
